History

Enerpoint was establishment under the company name of Aaltonen & Virolainen in 1980. Heimo Virolainen, who is now the Chairman of the Board of Enerpoint, became a full-time entrepreneur in 1982. Since its establishment, Enerpoint has worked in the field of building technology; the first product was a dimmer switch. Enerpoint’s product range was soon increased in heaters and thermostats of waterbeds.

Enerpoint’s transfer to the Patron Group in 1992 was when their own production ceased, and product development was outsourced and purchased from the previous product developer of the company. At the same time, Enerpoint’s production was transferred to China. In 1994, Patron Group was sold to Rautaruukki, and Enerpoint’s original owner, Heimo Virolainen, bought Enerpoint back. When Estonia became independent and the conditions were favourable, it made it easier to decide to transfer Enerpoint’s production back where it was closer to the clientele. At the beginning, activities in Estonia were in the form of co-operation with a company established in Saarenmaa.

The purposeful growth began at the end of the 1990’s and the joint company was ended in 1998 when a production company for all the production of the rapidly growing concern was established in Estonia followed by another production unit in 2006. The employees in Estonia have increased from ten at the beginning to 160.

The whole time, Enerpoint has bought a considerable proportion of the components in China and the purchase of Kin Tai Company in 2007 strengthens Enerpoint’s acquisition channels and production capacity in China. Our quality system certified in 2000 guarantees that our staff and production fulfil the quality criteria and control according to ISO 9001-2000 standards.
